Pack your Bags
I'm sitting in my Pink Chair today, and I have to say — some news just makes you want to pack a bag.
Diya is part of our Class of 2028, and she recently shared something exciting with me. This fall, she will be studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark.
As a Biology major and Bioethics, Humanities, and Medicine minor at Wake Forest, she'll be studying Human Health and Disease: A Clinical Approach through DIS Copenhagen, earning credits toward her degree while diving deeper into the intersection of science, medicine, and the human experience.
But what struck me most wasn't just where she's going. It was how she talked about it.
She's excited to learn Danish. To explore hospitals and clinics in Estonia and Germany. To experience a country known for its focus on narrative medicine, something that connects deeply to her studies and her values. And maybe most of all, she's excited to do this on her own. To travel independently. To build confidence. To learn life skills that can't be taught in a classroom. These are exactly the kinds of experiences we want every one of our Scholars to be able to have.
Listening to her, I was reminded that this is what growth looks like. A young woman stepping onto an international plane, ready to explore the world and deepen her purpose.
This is what your support makes possible. Not just access to college, but experiences that expand perspective, build confidence, and shape who she is becoming.
I can't wait to see where this leads her.
With gratitude,
Ginny
