To the people who make this possible

I spend a lot of time thinking about our Scholars.

Their late nights studying for a chemistry exam. Their first move-in day, arms full of boxes and nerves. The moment they walk across a stage in a cap and gown that once felt impossible.

That is where my mind goes most days, sitting in this pink chair.

But lately I have been thinking just as much about the people who make all of it possible.

You.

I love it when I get to sit down with one of you over coffee and somehow two hours disappear. What starts as a quick catch-up turns into your whole story: where you came from, what shaped you, the quiet moment when something in you decided this community was worth investing in. Those conversations stay with me long after my tea gets cold.

I carry that same curiosity about every one of you.

What was it that first brought you to Support Our Scholars?

Maybe your own path looked something like theirs.

Maybe you know exactly what it feels like to be the first in your family to walk onto a college campus, wondering if you belong.

Maybe you carried that uncertainty once, and you see a piece of your younger self in every young woman we serve.

Or maybe it was someone else’s path you recognized, a daughter’s friend, a former student, a young woman who crossed your path and reminded you how much a little support, at the right moment, can change everything.

Maybe someone showed up for you. A mentor who believed in you before you believed in yourself. And you’ve been looking for a way to pass that forward ever since.

Whatever brought you here, I am so grateful that it did.

You did not have to choose this. Out of everything competing for your time and your heart, you chose these young women. You chose to believe that a first-generation student deserves the same shot as anyone else.

Our Scholars may never know some of your names.

But they will know what it feels like to have someone in their corner who never gave up on them.

That is you.

That has always been you.

Thank you for the coffee that turns into something more.

Thank you for your stories.

And thank you, always, for being part of theirs.

With so much gratitude,

Ginny
