First Day of Classes

This week marked the first week of classes for many of our Scholars. Our newest class headed off to their colleges armed with their dorm provisions, anticipation, and a few nerves.

I love experiencing the first day of college each year with these Scholars. Throughout the day, I receive emails and texts with pictures of their dorm, questions about how to navigate campus (or what if I show up to my classroom and no one is there?), and share in their excitement of attending their first college class (do I need to ask to use the bathroom?), an experience they have dreamed about for so long. Lots of them made new friends today, started using their planners, and smiled at how far they have come.

Not every day will be as exciting and happy as today. There will be worries and a few tears along the way. But today, I wanted to remind you that you have helped make the dreams of these brilliant young women come true. They are officially college students!
