The Pink Chair Post: It Never Gets Old

Every year when we host our Annual Dorm Shower, I tell myself I’ll keep it together.

And every year, I fail.

No matter how many times I witness it, I am still moved to tears. Watching each girl stand in front of her “tower," stacked high with bedding, towels, school supplies, laundry baskets, and all the pieces that turn a dorm room into a home...It never gets old. There’s a moment when it shifts. When it clicks.

This is real.

College is real.

Her future is real.

You can see it in her eyes, the disbelief turning into joy, the weight of “maybe” turning into “I’m really going.”

And then I look around the room.

I see our community gathered in one place. People who gave. People who showed up. People who believe in these girls and their futures. Your generosity fills those towers. Your kindness makes college not just possible but tangible.

I get choked up seeing what happens when a community wraps its arms around its students.

This is more than a Dorm Shower.

This is hope you can see.

This is a future you can touch.

Thank you for making it real.

With so much gratitude,

Ginny
